Taman Nasional berdasarkan SK Menteri Kehutanan No: 096/Kpts-II/84
tanggal 12 Mei
1984 seluas 300.400 Ha yang terletak di Kabupaten Kotawaringin Barat dan Kabupaten Seruyan, Provinsi Kalimantan Tengah. Berdasarkan SK Menteri Kehutanan No: 687/Kpts-II/96 tanggal 25 Oktober 2996, luas kawasan TNTP menjadi 415.040 ha dengan tambahan hutan produksi ex HPH Hesubazah 90.000 ha dan Kawasan Perairan 25.000 ha.
